Our story begins with scientist-astronaut Lucy Shepherd's mysterious appearance on the nearly private tropical island where she was born and grew up. She's discovered by Wilson and Julia who thought she died  during a space mission 25 years earlier. Lucy lost her most recent memories along with all of her hair; she can't speak, she hasn't aged, and she may be pregnant. She begins remembering an earth-like planet referred to as Eden by her teacher, Mentor Ed, who encourages the use of cannabis as a meditation tool. She eventually meets and becomes best friends with Ana Pascal, the photojournalist who used to run a bakery in the film Stranger Than Fiction. They speak French and Italian together, the only languages Lucy has been able to remember so far. Ana has translated the script into English with the help of her Italian cousin, Carmella Alenetti.
